In the women’s division, Center Grove’s Debtones were named 3^rd Runner Up and also received the caption award for Best Costumes. The Debtones entertained the large crowd with Never Close Our Eyes, Pretty Gorgeous, Home, Zing Went the Strings and the New York Megamix.  There were many different styles of shows at this national competition proving show choir has something for everyone.

Center Grove’s CG Sound System’s lively show included Steal Your Rock & Roll, Never Met a Wolf Who Didn’t Love to Howl, Bella Notte, The Kings of Leisure and Make Me Happy. “Our students are the most driven, dedicated, and talented around and I’m proud of their performances during the FAME National Finals,” said director Jennifer Dice.  “They left it all out on the stage, and truly performed from the heart.  They have had a successful season, and should be very proud of their accomplishments. Their work ethic will serve them well in their future careers.”

The road to the National Show Choir Championship began with entry into one of five qualifying competitions held across the country in Hollywood, Branson, Chicago, Orlando, and New York City. These events are produced by the Nation’s leading Show Choir event producer, FAME Events, headquartered in Mesa, AZ.

The top three mixed finalists and the top two of the women’s division from each qualifying event were invited to the “National Show Choir Championship Finals” at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago, Illinois on April 27.   The Center Grove Choirs qualified for the National competition at the FAME Regional in Chicago March 23.

Sound Sensations and Powerhouse from John Burroughs High School in Burbank, California won Grand Champion honors in the Women’s and Mixed Divisions at the National Show Choir Championship Finals.

CG singers performed at the Chicago Temple on Friday and won the Grand Champion trophy in the Concert Choir division.  This completed their 2013 competition season. Their repertoire included Dies Irae from Mozart’sRequiem and J’entends le Moulin by Patriquin.

Saturday, The Debtones earned the Grand Champion trophy in the Unisex division at the Genesee Theater in Waukegan, IL.  Sound System also had a very successful competition in Waukegan.  They earned the caption awards for Best Choreography and Best Vocals and were awarded the First Runner up trophy in the Mixed Division. These placements qualified both groups to participate in the FAME National competition in Chicago April 26-27.

This show choir competition was a qualifying event for the Show Choir National Championship Finals to be held in Chicago April 26-27, 2013.  Schools from 6 states were represented in the Chicago regional competition. There are 6 regional qualifying competitions including two in Orlando, New York, Hollywood, Branson and Chicago.

The Debtones’ Katie Swaney was recognized for the best female soloist in all of the competing shows. Sound System member Joel Flynn was named best male soloist in all of the competing shows.

The Center Grove choirs are directed by Jennifer Dice and Jared Norman, assisted by Greg Sanders, Sheila Leachman and choreographed by Andy Haines.  The next competition for Sound System and The Debtones will be FAME Nationals in Chicago, April 26-27, 2013.

March 16, Shelbyville, IN – It was an exciting day of show choir competition at the Shelbyville Singing Sensational resulting in the Center Grove Sound System and The Debtones taking home the Grand Champion honors in their respective divisions.

Sound System wowed the crowd with their upbeat choreography winning the Best Choreography and Best Tech Crew caption awards.  Their division included 7 choirs and they secured the Grand Champion trophy for Large Mixed Groups.  An Overall Competition Award of Grand Champion was also awarded to Sound System due to the highest point score for the entire competition. Senior David Mann was named best male soloist in a large mixed show and Junior Megan Timmons was honored as outstanding performer of the group.

The Debtones earned another Grand Champion trophy in the Women’s Division competing in a division with 7 choirs. They earned the caption awards for Best Choreography and Best Vocals. Freshman Katie Swaney was recognized as the outstanding performer of the group.

Surround Sound, Center Grove’s junior varsity mixed show choir also competed in the Large Mixed Group division. Senior Madison Norris was selected as the outstanding performer.

Katie Swaney was again awarded for her excellence in the solo competition and won the Grand Champion trophy for her performance. The solo competition included 35 students.

Sound System, The Debtones and CG Singers will travel to Chicago March 22-23 to compete in the FAME Regional Competition. This competition is part of the Show Choir National Championship Series.

The Debtones earned the Grand Champion trophy in the Women’s Division competing in a division with 9 choirs. They earned the caption awards for Best Show Design, Best Choreography and Best Vocal Quality. Katie Swaney was recognized for the best solo in a show and Maria Neathery was recognized as the outstanding performer of the group.

CG Sound System also had a very successful competition in Virginia.  Their division included 10 choirs and they secured the Grand Champion trophy for Mixed Groups. They earned the caption awards for Best Show Design, Best Choreography and Best Vocal Quality. Joel Flynn was named best male soloist in a mixed show. Macey Estes and Dante Gearring were honored as outstanding performers of the group.

Debtones member Katie Swaney also competed in the solo competition and won the Grand Champion trophy for her performance.

The Accents were awarded the Grand Champion trophy in the Women’s Division at the Lawrence Central Classic. They also received the caption award for best vocals. Surround Sound competed in the Mixed Division of this same competition.

Sound System, The Debtones and CG Singers all competed at the Hoosier Show Choir Classic at Franklin Central High School.  Sound System competed in the Large Mixed Competition Class which included 9 choirs.  The group was named 2^nd Runner Up and Macey Estes was honored as Outstanding Performer.

The Debtones competed in the Women’s Division which fielded 8 choirs. They were awarded the 1^stRunner Up trophy and Allison Schifeling was honored as Outstanding Performer. Abby Nussbaum was selected as the best show soloist in the division. CG Singers competed against 9 choirs in the Concert Division. They placed 2^nd Runner Up in their division.

The Debtones were named Grand Champions of the Unisex division competing against 8 choirs and also earned awards for Best Choreography and Best Tech Crew.  Allison Schifeling was named outstanding performer of the group.

Center Grove’s Sound System achieved 2^nd Runner Up in a field of 10 Mixed Show Choirs.  Their show won a caption award for the most creative show. Joel Flynn was named the group’s outstanding performer.  CG Singers placed 3rd Runner Up in the concert division.  Their division included 6 choirs from the region.

In the solo competition, junior Joel Flynn captured the Grand Champion trophy and Megan Timmons received the 3rd Runner Up trophy.  These students competed against 35 soloists.  Some of the schools competing in this day-long competition included Franklin Central, Ben Davis, Fishers and Brownsburg.
